AUPUNI ART PLACE - ON-GOING CULTURAL CLASSES!
Aupuni Art Place - a place for stimulating the creation, growth and use of nā mea Hawai`i, or things Hawaiian and things from across the Pacific.
Join us for any of our free continuing classes that bring the Hawaiian culture to life in our Aupuni Art Place, located in our Ward Warehouse store.  
On-Going Classes and Activities

Mondays - Lei Hulu (Feather) Workshops with Kaha'i Topolinski & Eric Wada
5:30pm - 9pm
Students will learn the traditional craft of Hawaiian featherwork through projects such as lei hulu (feather lei), kahili (feather standard) and other hulu items. Classes are $50 per month or $25 per lesson and participants will continue working on their projects from week to week.  There is also an extra fee for supplies.  For info call Kuahiwi at 537-3778.
Mondays and Fridays - Lau Hala Weaving
9 - 2pm ; FREE
Outside Native Books/Na Mea Hawai'i

These weaving sessions offer lau hala weaving and fellowship. There is no charge to weave, bring your projects, questions and ulana!
Tuesdays - Palette Knife Oil Painting **NEW
10:15am - 12:45pm

Thursdays - Beginning 'Olelo Hawai'i or Hawaiian Language
8:15am - 9:15am ; FREE
Learn basic Hawaiian words and phrases from instructor Germaine Kaleolani Haili.  This class also
features place name pronunciations and stories, and various mo'olelo.  For more info, contact

Thursdays - Introduction to Hula Classes (Young Adult to Kupuna)
Beginning Hula: 5pm - 6pm
Intermediate Hula: 6pm - 7pm ; FREE

Learn basic movements of hula from instructor Germaina Kaleolani Haili.  Haumana (students) will
learn the history, language and culture of this beautiful art form.  Classes are held at the Ward
amphitheater.  Classes are for young adults through kupuna.  For more info, contact Germaine at

Fridays and Saturdays/Sundays - Lau Hala Weaving Class
Friday: 5:30p - 8:30p
Saturdays/Sundays: 9a - 2p

March 25, 26, 27, 28: Retreat at Academy of Arts (pending)
May 29, 30, 31: piko purse / round mat
July 3, 4, 5: piko purse / round mat
September 4, 5, 6, 7: Retreat to be announced

Saturdays - Beginning Adult 'Ukulele Classes
9:30am - 10:30am ; FREE
Have fun learning how to play the 'ukulele with instructor Puanani Higgins every Saturday morning.
